Happy Trails to You, Orla

This is usually what our family portraits look like. After five years in the trenches with us, our loyal and beloved nanny, Orla, (lower right) is moving out of the country to seek new adventures. She joined us full-time when the triplets were six months old. Now they are five and a half. Incredibly, she stayed with us for five years, and became a family member. Orla, we will miss your happy presence in our house and your uncanny ability to re-direct kids out of a meltdown. You were and still are a gift.

These Folks Deserve a Night Out

about the blog author:

Michelle Nicholasen
I am a mother of five children, now aged 10, 11, 11, 11, and 14. This blog is inspired by the book I wrote with Barbara O'Neal, the Educational Director of Arlington Children's Center. But the blog's main purpose is to share creative ideas for managing the wacky, frustrating, often irrational behaviors of little kids. The blog is growing with my children, so the issues I am writing about today reflect the development of tweens and teens.
